The Bomber Jackets is a special limited edition publishing project based around the stencil books The Street Art Stencil Book and Stencil Republic, featuring unique works from twenty of the world’s leading and emerging urban artists.
The project was conceived by Ollystudio and sees artists create limited editions of 50 covers for the book published by Laurence King. Each of the artists have been asked to produce bespoke works for the book jackets, using stencils, screen print and hand spraying techniques.
The route that introduced Run Don’t Walk to stencil art originated in the 1990s in Buenos Aires’ hardcore/punk underground. There was barely any street art scene when, in line with the DIY ethic and aesthetics of this background, he started using stencils for flyers, posters and records for his band. Nowadays his work responds to and comments on the socio-political conditions, using references from animals to Karl Marx, via Janet Leigh's scream in Psycho.
